Street vendors and illegal market vendors in the Saphan Han and Saphan Lek area will be removed in the next two weeks as a part of an urban renewal project coordinated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. About 500 vendors along Damrongsathit Bridge, popularly known as Saphan Lek, have until Monday, October 11,  to relocate. Vendors who don't move will be evicted.   • 14 SEPTEMBER 2015 - BANGKOK, THAILAND:  A woman packs up some of her belongings in the home she's being evicted from. Fiftyfour homes around Wat Kalayanamit, a historic Buddhist temple on the Chao Phraya River in the Thonburi section of Bangkok are being razed and the residents evicted to make way for new development at the temple. The abbot of the temple said he was evicting the residents, who have lived on the temple grounds for generations, because their homes are unsafe and because he wants to improve the temple grounds. The evictions are a part of a Bangkok trend, especially along the Chao Phraya River and BTS light rail lines.
