The 2020 Iowa State Fair, like many state fairs in the Midwest, has been cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. The cancellation of the fair left many small vendors stranded with no income. Some of the fair food vendors in Iowa started "Fair Food Fridays" on a property a few miles south of the State Fairgrounds. People drive up and don't leave their cars while vendors bring them the usual midway fare; corndogs, fried tenderloin sandwiches, turkey legs, deep fried Oreos, lemonaide and smoothies. Fair Food Friday has been very successful. The vendors serve 450-500 people per Friday and during the lunch rush people wait in line in their cars 30 - 45 minutes to place an order.
