Amulets are frequently worn by people who live or work in dangerous environments because they are seens as offering supernatural protection against harm. As many as 30,000 "Red Shirts" are expected in Bangkok this week ahead of a Thai court ruling that could cause the collapse of the government of Yingluck Shinawatra, the Prime Minister. The Red Shirts are gathering in a suburban sports stadium before marching to the court. The Red Shirts are mostly farmers and rural Thais who support the Shinawatra government.
