20 MARCH 2020 - DES MOINES, IOWA: ANDREW TOMES, the brand manger at the Foundry, a distillery in Des Moines, runs through the parking lot while handing out hand sanitizer to waiting motorists. The distillery suspended its distilling operations to make hand sanitizer this week. They distributed it free to people who came to their building. On Friday thousands of people came to get some. There line was more than one mile long. On Friday morning, 20 March, Iowa reported 45 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus. Restaurants, bars, movie theaters, places that draw crowds are closed for at least 30 days. There are no "shelter in place" orders in effect anywhere in Iowa but people are being encouraged to practice "social distancing" and many businesses are requiring or encouraging employees to telecommute.
