25 AUGUST 2012 - PHOENIX, AZ: Volunteers and immigration lawyers who volunteered their time help immigrants complete the paperwork necessary to apply for deferred action status at a workshop in Phoenix. Hundreds of people lined up at Central High School in Phoenix to complete their paperwork to apply for "Deferred Action" status under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program announced by President Obama in June. Volunteers and lawyers specialized in immigration law helped the immigrants complete the required paperwork. Under the program, the children of undocumented immigrants brought to the US before they turned 16 years old would not be subject to deportation if they meet a predetermined set of conditions.
