23 DECEMBER 2014 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: A boy boxer hands a cup of water to BAI THONG, 7 years old, after they worked out at the Kanisorn gym in Bangkok. She has been boxing for about 5 months. The Kanisorn boxing gym is a small gym along the Wong Wian Yai - Samut Sakhon train tracks. Young people from the nearby communities come to the gym to learn Thai boxing. Muay Thai (Muai Thai) is a mixed martial art developed in Thailand. Muay Thai became widespread internationally in the twentieth century, when Thai boxers defeated other well known boxers. A professional league is governed by the World Muay Thai Council. Muay Thai is frequently seen as a way out of poverty for young Thais.
