12 JANUARY 2016 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: A worker sorts live chickens in the live poultry section of Khlong Toey Market (also spelled Khlong Toei) in Bangkok. On Monday the Thai Ministry of Public Health instructed government agencies to watch for any signs of “bird flu” during the winter season, and warned the public to avoid contact with any birds that appear sickly. The latest data from the World Health Organization showed the continuous transmission of avian flu in various countries, both in people and birds. Bird Flu is endemic in China, Vietnam and Indonesia, all important Thai trading partners. There have been no recorded outbreaks of Bird Flu in humans in Thailand several years. PHOTO BY JACK KURTZ
