ChineseNewYearHatYai

07 FEBRUARY 2014 - HAT YAI, SONGKHLA, THAILAND: Men pray for a prosperous New Year in the back of a Chinese owned shop in Hat Yai. Groups of men go business to business with small altars and business owners make offerings and pray at the altars. Hat Yai was originally settled by Chinese immigrants and still has a large ethnic Chinese population. Chinese holidays, especially Lunar New Year (Tet) and the Vegetarian Festival are important citywide holidays. PHOTO BY JACK KURTZ
