08 FEBRUARY 2021 - DES MOINES, IOWA: The Iowa State Capitol on the east end of Locust Street in downtown Des Moines. Central Iowa, including Des Moines, is enduring its coldest winter in 25 years. Daily high temperatures this week are not expected to go above 10F (-12C) and nightly lows are expected to be about -5F (-20C). In addition to the cold weather, this is the second snowiest winter in Des Moines history. So far this winter there has been more than 44 inches (111 centimeters) of snow.
