01 JANUARY 2017 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: Buddhist monks pray during a merit making ceremony at CentralWorld, an upscale shopping mall in Bangkok. Thais traditionally go to temples to pray and make merit on New Year's Day. There are also large merit making ceremonies in many towns. The merit making ceremony featured 89 monks to honor Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Late King of Thailand, who died on October 13, several weeks short of his 89th birthday. PHOTO BY JACK KURTZ
