Much of the agricultural industry in Myanmar still uses human and animal power to get work done, compared to neighboring Thailand, where the most of the work is mechanized. After decades of military mismanagement that led to years of rice imports, Myanmar (Burma) is on track to become one of the world's leading rice exporters in the next two years and could challenge traditional rice exporter leader Thailand. Political and economic reforms have improved rice yields and new mills are being built across the country. Burmese eat more rice than any other people in the world.
