GeorgeFloydMemorial

12 JUNE 2020 - MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA: A girl and her mother at the impromptu memorial for George Floyd at the corner of 38th Street and Chicago Ave. in Minneapolis. The intersection is informally known as "George Floyd Square" and is considered a "police free zone." There are memorials to honor Black people killed by police and people providing free food at the intersection. Floyd, an unarmed Black man, was killed by Minneapolis police on May 25 when an officer kneeled on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Floyd's death sparked weeks of ongoing protests and uprisings against police violence around the world. PHOTO BY JACK KURTZ
