ArpaioProtests

Nov. 30, 2009 -- PHOENIX, AZ: JOE ARPAIO, the Maricopa County Sheriff, answers questions at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in Phoenix, AZ. The event was billed as a "Meet the Press" type interview with controversial Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Arpaio was questioned by three members of the faculty, all former journalists. About 3/4 of the way through the one hour program, protestors opposed to Sheriff started singing and effectively shut down the program forcing the sheriff to leave early. Several hundred protestors, both opposed to and supporting the sheriff, picketed the front of the school during the program. Photo by Jack Kurtz
