She accompanied Sonny Perdue, the US Secretary of Agriculture, who made a secretarial disaster declaration for 42 counties in central Iowa. Perdue was accompanied by Governor Kim Reynolds Ernst. The secretarial disaster declaration frees up more federal funds, from the Department of Agriculture, to help in recovery from the derecho storm that wiped out about one-third of Iowa's corn crop on Monday, August 10, 2020.
