09 DECEMBER 2011 - PHOENIX, AZ: PETE LINDERT, a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, carries a Christmas wreath into a wreath laying ceremony at the National Cemetery in Phoenix. Several hundred volunteers and veterans gathered at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix Saturday to lay Christmas wreaths on headstones, a tradition started by Wreaths Across America. Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester, in 1992.
