Salmon is running in the Republican primary for Arizona's 5th Congressional District. Salmon previously served in Congress from 1994 until 2000. CD5 is a primarily Republican district, with a large number of conservative Mormons, in the suburbs east of Phoenix. Salmon is running against Kirk Adams, a former Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives. Whoever wins the August 28 Republican primary will probably win in November's general election.
