11 DECEMBER 2015 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: People in Ratchaprasong Intersection wait for the Bike for Dad to start. More than 527,000 people registered for the Bike for Dad event to honor Bhumibol Adulyadej, the King of Thailand, whose birthday is also celebrated as Father’s Day in Thailand. In Bangkok, 99,999 people registered for Bike for Dad. More than 418,000 people registered for Bike for Dad rides in the provinces outside Bangkok and 9,805 participated in Bike for Dad events outside of Thailand. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, the heir apparent to the Thai crown, led the bike ride in Bangkok. The Bangkok route was 29 kilometers long (18 miles) and traveled through Bangkok and across the Chao Phraya River into Thonburi. Bike for Dad events were held across Thailand. PHOTO BY JACK KURTZ
