Hundreds of teachers from across Iowa came to the state capitol Friday to protest Governor Kim Reynolds' order that school must reopen with in person education and minimized the potential for "distance learning." The event was one of the largest COVID-19 protests in Iowa since the pandemic started, more than 740 teachers signed up to attend the protest. After the protest officially ended, many teachers left the capitol and drove to Gov. Reynolds' residence, where they drove around her mansion and honked horns. Some people left notes on the entrance to the governor's residence. Gov. Reynolds ordered the school reopening last week, but according to teachers, the state has not implemented health guidelines or bought protective equipment like face masks in the quantity required to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
